Converting oil into biodiesel, the process other than transesterification?
Does anyone know what is the full process for how to extract oil from a powder. And is there another process that can be used for converting oil into biodiesel other than transesterification process. And give me some scientists names that you know working on these things. Links can help. Tnx
This is our investigatory project actually. And I really need help. Those willing to help me, you can email me. Our project aims to make a biodiesel out of an oil extracted from coffee in another way process. Being used nowadays is the transesterification process and I want to discover new process that more faster and easy than that. Interested? email me junmarrdenila@yahoo.com.ph.Thanks

according to Wikipedia, biodiesel IS the mixture of long chain fatty acid mono esters obtained by transesterification of fats and oils (which as I expect you know are glycerol triesters) with a simple alcohol, usually methanol or sometimes ethanol.
In order to get an acceptably low molecular weight, which affects viscosity and volatility, you must detach the fatty acid from the glycerol. You then need to do something about the resulting free acid functional group.
So I can’t easily find a meaning to your question.
One possible suggestion; you could hydrolyse (saponify) your oil, and decarboxylate. Not sure how you’d be doing it, and I’m sure it’s not commercial or it would be in use already.
Perhaps it is. Anyway, I would start with a Google search on biodiesel production
