my plan for fuel in the U.S.?
Alright, if i was in congress, i would implement a bill that would eliminate ethanol subsidies and give it to petroleum based diesel (to get food prices down), also we would implement more nuclear, wind, and water turbine power plants for home power (to cut down on oil usage and stop coal usage for home power..), after that we would use coal to oil technology to get 50% of gasoline and 25% of diesel to be from coal ( i know its not "green", but with the home power coming from mostly "green" sources i feel that it would offset), we would also subsidize biodiesel to the point that we could blend bio to make B25 biodiesel for standard use. So, home power is from mostly "green" sources, transportation fuel (gas and diesel) is 50% MADE IN AMERICA!!!!! Like it? Don’t like it? Suggestions? let me know.
FedUp, Here is Coal to oil explained-http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Karrick_process#Gasoline To Dave J: While i do agree that we should all conserve as much as we can, look at countries like China and India where oil is booming, they use it like its freakin limitless and pollute 100 times what the U.S. does, and I have to Strongly disagree with you on one point, making all interstates tollways, how could the people who dont make alot of money make it to work? and dont they take enough of MY MONEY for federal income tax?
And to all who say that the Gov is run by oil companies and the like, the best thing to do is remember that the Gov is actually run by YOU!! YES YOU!! BY THE PEOPLE, FOR THE PEOPLE!!! The best way to make a change is to run those greedy people out of office by VOTING! Sorry for the rant, just irritates me how most of (not all) America’s youth cares more about freakin Xbox than who makes laws for them.

You’re correct except for the coal power. Coal can be used cleanly. You just have to put in scrubbers and bag houses, which takes emissions down below legal requirements. How do you get gasoline and fuel from coal (coal to oil technology)? You left me in the dust on that one. Your plan is a good one, you just have to refine it. Go for it baby! Help us all out of this horrible mess.
Nuclear, coal and hydro are the ways of the world and very efficient. But you have to convince the environmentalist treehuggers to back the hell off and deal with some truth instead of looking for causes that aren’t legitimate. Their issues with the coal power plants was WAY overstated and you can blame them for the closing many of those plants. Now we all pay out the nose for the power produced by the gas burner plants.
Not a bad plan. Look more at the cons of this plan now and fix the cons that don’t conflict with the pros of the plan
I was thinking that if the scientists could solve the problem of time and space, we may be able to come up with an alternative energy source, such as the type we get from magnets.
In a dream world yes some of that would work but we don’t live in a world where the things that make the most sense is implemented. As long as corporations and corrupted politicians are in office things we only move slowly to cleaner ways and less dependance on foreign energy.
wow, its really detailed and it sounds like you know what your talking about, i like it. maybe add some more "green" possibilities with the transportation fuel,75% made in america would be good hydrogen or electric would be good also.
that be sweet if gas companys where not making Billions +$ a year and can buy and do almost anything they want to.
THings you can add to your car to get better gas milage
Hydrogen booster ..add20-50% better gas milage
Fule heater ..heats the fuel more to help eveaporate the fuel for better burning .
Or invent a Full water burning car thats works 100% and get the full plans online and to the public before you get shut down .Once plans are on the net there is no stoping it.
Good Start. But the problem is not in the fuel but in how Americans use it. I agree completely that powering homes and communities needs to be local use of renewable technologies. But it is not ONE thing that is going to change fuel innovation. It is going to take conservation (having people know they can drive less), taxing (whatever you may think of this, driving is a privilege and our interstates should be all tollways), relocalization back to town centers (stop building new homes when it is just a neighborhood of same-like homes; go back to community and downtown markets).

Your plan is one piece of the pie. Technology will drive new efficiencies. Conservation along with localization provide smaller driving distances. Recognition that ethanol is net EROEI (energy return on energy invested) LOSS. Our gov road a losing bandwagon in promoting corn ethanol.
